What are the Pros and Cons of Window Tinting

>

Getting tinted car windows has its pros and cons. It can protect your car’s interior, keep the interior of your car cooler, and looks great but aftermarket tints can crack or bubble, and you may end up in trouble if your tint is too dark. At Cobra Car and Truck Accessories, we offer car tinting that do not fade. Having tinted so many cars, we know the reasons why you should get your windows tinted, as well as some drawbacks you may want to consider.

Cons

Let’s get the cons out of the way to start. While it is true that aftermarket tint can bubble and peel, if you get your tint installed at a reputable vendor (like Cobra) then the chances of this happening are incredibly minuscule. We know what we are doing and how to apply tint properly.

Another con is that because of recent laws added to the books in Ontario you cannot apply tint to all the windows in your car. The back windows can still have as much tint as you like but the front side windows can legally only have up to 30% tint, and there can be no tint on the full windshield, a strip across the top is ok. Some people do not like the look this creates, as it is not uniform, and if a police officer thinks that your car’s tint is too strong (note, cars manufactured before Jan. 1, 2017 are grandfathered to the old tint rules) then they may pull you over.

Pros

There are way more pros to getting your windows tinted then there are cons. Tinted windows help to protect the interior of your car from harmful UV rays, which are notoriously bad for fading leather and fabric interiors. It also helps protect you from UV rays as well when you are driving long distances.

Tinted windows help protect your vision, even though you can no longer have your windshield done. The amount of light streaming through into your car is faded, and if you are driving with the sun to your left or right or directly behind you, you notice an improved difference when you do not have to squint against it.

Tint also looks great. It adds a sleekness to a vehicle and makes your car, truck, or SUV look great. Aside from just looking great, it can help you save on gas. Tint helps block thermal heat, so in the summer your car does not not have to work as hard cooling down your vehicle with AC then it has without it.

Though you do have to get a tint within the legal range, and there is a chance the tint peels or bubbles, with our expertise and commitment, not to fear. A tint protects your car, protects you, and looks great while doing it. Contact us today at Cobra for tinted car windows.
